The movie reminded me of my days in Kemang and I can definitely agree to everything in the movie. The story was narrated in a way that mocks the society in a playful and humorous way.
The movie captures the life of one of the last traditional tribes in the world. The scenes are beautifully captured in vivid earthy colors with scenes of the active volcano Mount Yasur. It gives you an insight of a world that hasn’t been seen in cinema which makes the movie very precious and unique. I liked the movie because it not only shows you a different world and a different culture but the story also allows you to feel the intensity of moments of despair and the celebration of life.
While evolving and being true to their roots, the Taiwanese culture developed a good combination of Chinese and Japanese influence with a “down-to-earth” character which probably originated from its ancient tribes and the ruggedness of the terrain. It is also evident in the art created by the local artists and artists who considered Taiwan to be their second home.
I have been to Japan five times but this is the first time I’ve made a visit in the summer time only for the purpose of checking out the Setouchi Triennale.
